In August 2024, I became a Leave No Trace (LNT) level 1 educator.  LNT is an organization that works to promote a responsible use of the outdoors.  Most of its focus is on protecting the forests from the typical human's impact, but they also have some programs for cities too.  Overall, it's a great organization that is doing some extremely important work.  I highly recommend you go to their website and get some of their training.

Below this page, you'll find my takes and impressions on the 7 principles of LNT, and suggestions of some easy ways to implement it in both your outdoor activities and your daily life.

  1. Plan Ahead and Prepare
  2. Travel and Camp on Durable Surfaces
  3. Dispose of Waste Properly
  4. Leave What You Find
  5. Minimize Campfire Impacts
  6. Respect Wildlife
  7. Be Considerate of Others
