This coming Saturday, I plan to get back to hiking after a couple weeks off.  The plan for the day are North Dome and Sherrill in the Catskills.  These are both trailless peaks, but they do have established herd paths.  The problem is that there are multiple ways to go up/down these mountains.  The guidebook mentions one going up Sherrill from Shaft road.  There's a route up North Dome from Spurceton road, and there's another that is a mile or so in on the Devils Path from Spruceton.  The guide also says there's a path between the 2 peaks, but the col is narrow so use your compass to keep the bearing.  Needless to say, none of these routes are on my mapping software or on the maps.  I've been able to find them elsewhere though, and even stitch together a couple to get a complete route.

After posting this question to a catskills hiking list, I've heard nobody say anything about coming in off Spruceton which is what the guide book recommends first.  The path from the Devils Path is not well established.  Almost everyone comes in from Shaft.  The path between the 2 peaks is also pretty well worn.  So, with that in mind, I'll be doing Sherrill first from Shaft road, cross over to North Dome, and then summit Sherrill again to head home.  Looking at the terrain, it'll be a little steep coming down/up Sherrill between it and North Dome, but overall, not that bad.  The planned hike is 7.17 miles, 3200 foot elevation gain/loss.

Now, depending on how I feel, and how long this takes, I may add a second hike into the day.  If I do that, it'll be Windham High Peak.  That's a trailed peak, relatively straight forward 5.96 miles, 1440 foot elevation gain/loss.  Adding this in would make it a 13 mile day, 4600 foot day.... a moderately hard but common day in the 'Daks (of the 19 hikes I did there, 9 were longer and/or more elevation.... the closest one was Dial/Nippletop at 13 mi, 4500 elevation)

If I do the 3 peaks Saturday, that will 12/33.... almost half way there.
