Today it was Hurricane Fire Tower. I chose to go up this one as training for winter hiking, being only a week or so before winter, and someone had reported a couple days earlier that they used snowshoes all the way. I was pumped to use my snowshoes again. Sadly, the weather warmed up and all I used was microspikes.
The trail up from 9N, or the new trail or southern trail, was a good trail to hike up overal. The switchbacks they added in made it a better hike then the old trail that went straight up to the bog. It was so warm, and I was working up a sweat, by the time I reached the top, I was in my tee shirt. The trail was a fun one and one I will do again in the future.
This makes fire tower 4/27 and Lake Placid 9 4/9.
